The Pöstling bergbahn has been impressing guests from all across the world since more than 110 years with their extraordinary and idyllic routing. With the commissioning of the new Pöstling bergbahn (mountain railway) in May 2009, a direct link has been established between the main square of Linz and the Pöstling Mountain.
Get in and enjoy a ride on the local mountain of Linz. Using the low-floor technology of the new carriages, you can use the Pöstling mountain railway comfortably. For fans of nostalgia, rides are offered on the old and revitalised routes. At the destination, the attraction is an impressive view over Linz and the Grottenbahn (PDF, 7612 kB) (Grotten Railway) with the world of fairy tales and kingdom of the gnomes.
With a route length of 4.14 km, the Pöstling mountain railway negotiates a height difference of 255 metres in 20 minutes. The track gauge was changed from 1,000 mm to 900 mm. This is how the railway could be incorporated easily into the network of the LINZ AG LINIEN and travels now up to the Hauptplatz (Main Square).

The use of the Pöstling bergbahn (Mountain Railway) is complimentary for passenger having a LINZ AG LINIEN annual network ticket (transferable and annual network tickets for senior citizens, semester tickets and job tickets) or a LINZ AG LINIEN monthly ticket (transferable and monthly ticket for senior citizens, and additional charge ticket for school students / apprentices, monthly ticket for apprentices and an active pass monthly ticket).
This rule is applicable also to holders of an OÖVV annual ticket, the OÖVV monthly ticket and the OÖVV semester ticket. The prerequisite, however, is that the additional price for core zone has been paid for these tickets (Print "Linz + "K", "Linz + city traffic" or "Linz + core zone").
Please note that the identity cards for the free ride of the OÖVV students and apprentices or the discount for them are not valid as annual or monthly tickets and hence, the appropriate tariff must be paid for the rides with the Pöstling bergbahn (mountain railway).
